Gateshead Mine Water Scheme Features in CIBSE Journal
It was great to see the Gateshead Mine Water Energy Scheme featured in this month’s edition of the CIBSE Journal – June 2026.
We were proud to be part of the design team for this innovative low carbon scheme, working as part of a collaborative team to help deliver this pioneering heat network for Gateshead Council.
Harnessing heat from disused mine workings beneath the town, the project is already demonstrating the real potential of mine water as a sustainable energy source, supporting the transition away from gas and helping to decarbonise heat at scale.
A great example of how engineering innovation and collaboration can make a meaningful impact on the journey to net zero.
