Desco’s Park View Student Village scoops an Award at the LABC Building Excellence Awards 2019
Representatives from Desco attended The LABC Northern Building Excellence Awards which were held at The Hilton Hotel Gateshead on Friday 5th July. Attended by over 300 guests from a range of sectors across the three regions of Cumbria, Tees Valley and Tyne & Wear.
The LABC Building Excellence Awards celebrates buildings and design teams that have overcome the challenges of complex technical and construction issues as well as building site constraints. The awards also put the spotlight on innovative and creative building work that was completed in the Northern region.
Desco’s £75m project Park View Student Village was the winner of the Best High-Volume New Housing Development. The scheme is Newcastle Universities newest and largest accommodation site to date, completed in under two years the university officially welcomed its first student residents at the beginning of the year.
It replaces the previous limited student accommodation and offers a new 1,261 modern en-suite bedroomed development. The development consists of a total of 8 buildings, 6 towers of student accommodation an energy centre and external substation. The site is located on Richardson road next to Royal Victoria Infirmary hospital in Newcastle.
