Desco Selected as Panel Services Partner

Desco has secured a place on the prestigious £1bn regeneration project at Winstanley and York Road estate, to deliver the Mechanical, Electrical and Public Health Engineering services.

Winstanley & York Road Regeneration LLP is the Joint Venture (JV) partnership between Wandsworth Borough Council and Taylor Wimpey to deliver the regeneration of the Winstanley and York Road estates.

The project will provide 2,275 new and redeveloped homes for the residents of the neighboring Battersea estates. The development is supplemented by a host of community buildings, retail and amenity spaces and landscaped public areas. Central to the improved neighbourhood will be a new community building providing combined leisure, library, community and children’s centres. This hub of community space has been positioned to optimise the views of and the buildings relationship with the park. Also, clustered park side, is a reprovided improved health centre and a new workspace building, ensuring the delivery of the regeneration objectives of raising the life chances and aspirations of Wandsworth residents.

The masterplan for Winstanley and York Road Estates has evolved through a three-year stakeholder consultation process between the council, residents and the built environment specialists to reach the current design.

The Winstanley & York Road regeneration visual identity has been designed by HTA Design LLP. This design has been inspired by the wall murals by William Mitchell which can be found on the Winstanley estate. Through our engagement process, we have started a programme working with residents to create new patterns. These patterns will then be used across the estate to create signs, public art, play areas and in the design of outside spaces.

The panel services will be managed by Desco Director David Starbuck from the company’s Croydon office. Discussing the successful appointment, David said, “The Winstanley and York Road Regeneration will not only offer much needed housing in the area, but it will regenerate existing housing and deliver an attractive new neighbourhood where people will be proud to work and live. We are pleased to be part of the panel of consultants who will be delivering the scheme, having worked on the project throughout the early stages we were very keen to continue our involvement from stage 2 through to completion. The project will generate significant opportunities for employment and training and we look forward to supporting the initiatives of the Winstanley & York Road Regeneration LLP.
