Desco directors take on 122km CBRE bike ride for charity

Neil Crowe and Kevin Hall took on the longest route at the Great Property Bike Ride in Surrey

In aid of Alzheimer’s Society, Desco directors Kevin Hall and Neil Crowe took part in CBRE’s Great Property Bike Ride at Sandown Park Racecourse in Surrey on Tuesday 25th June 2024.

Participants took on one of three routes, 40km, 70km or 122km, to raise money for Alzheimer’s Society, CBRE’s charity partner. Participants were given a timing chip to record their time around the course, which had to be completed by 5pm.

Keen cyclists, Neil and Kevin took on the 122km route, cycling in gruelling 27-degree heat, they completed the challenge in an amazing 4 hours 26 minutes. Their total ascent was over 1,350m.

Starting at Sandown Park Racecourse in Esher, the route went through Cobham, Ockham and East Clandon, meeting their first climb, before taking on a steep winding descent to the Shere By-pass and into Albury and Chilworth.  The route then took in several other towns before heading to Hankley Common, which has been used as a filming location, including for ‘Skyfall’.

They took on another climb through the beech forests of White Down Lane and towards Westhumble, before heading to the famous Box Hill and heading back to Sandown for the finish line.

Alzheimer’s Society support those living with Alzheimer’s and their loved ones. By taking part in the gruelling challenge Neil and Kevin will be helping support those living with dementia and funding dementia research.
