Berwick Sports & Leisure Centre Welcomes its First Visitors
Berwick’s new sports and leisure centre has opened its doors to the public for the first time this week.
Desco designed the M&E services for the new £22.6M centre which offers residents and visitors state-of-the-art facilities including a 25m swimming pool, learner pool and splash area, sports hall, fitness suite and studios, indoor bowls hall, Tranquility Spa, children’s soft play area and the Hive café.
The new facility has been constructed on the site next to the current leisure centre and is being built in phases with phase one, the largest phase, opening this week.
Phase two will see the construction of the new four-court sports hall which is expected to be completed by September 2022.
The project has been funded by Northumberland County Council and will be run by Active Northumberland.
