Desco appoints Gerard Hosford as Technical Director

The latest in several high-profile appointments, Desco has announced that Gerard Hosford has joined to support the North East Headquartered engineering consultancy’s steady growth plans.

The latest in several high-profile appointments, Desco has announced that Gerard Hosford has joined to support the North East Headquartered engineering consultancy’s steady growth plans.

Prior to joining Desco, Gerard started his career as a Graduate Engineer at AECOM, specialising in mechanical engineering. Moving quickly into technical management and then director roles at a multidisciplinary engineering consultancy practice Patrick Parsons.
Gerard is the past CIBSE North-East regional Chairman serving from 2014 to 2016. He is currently Honorary Secretary for the Forum for the Built Environment (FBE) North East Region.

Gerard joined Desco at the beginning of April as a Technical Director. He will be responsible for managing a range of projects at Desco, which designs mechanical, electrical and environmental systems for buildings, across a variety of sectors including education, healthcare, leisure, residential and science and technology.

Paul Baker, one of Desco’s Board Directors, with whom Gerard will be working closely, said of his appointment, “Gerard joining Desco is fantastic news for the business.”

Paul explains “With a wealth of experience in the engineering industry Gerard has a proven record of leading successful teams, in the delivery of mechanical services engineering and sustainable design on a wide variety of national and international projects. Gerard’s experience will complement the skills and knowledge of our existing management and design teams here in Sunderland”.

Gerard Commented on his new role: “One of the main drivers that influenced my decision to join Desco was the fantastic reputation in the industry and being in the enviable position of currently working on a diverse range of prestigious projects. Gerard adds “This new position offers me the chance to get involved in some impressive projects, including the £700m Olympia regeneration offering the technical design challenges that I thrive on as an engineer, as well as the opportunity to work with some of our industry’s most talented, experienced engineers.”
