Desco are delivering the MEP Services Design on the new £21m Morpeth Leisure Centre development.
The new £21million development is being funded by Northumberland County Council and will be built on The Terrace site on Gas House Lane in Morpeth.
Anticipated start on site is November 2020, with the centre set to be complete and open to the public in Summer 2022, managed by Active Northumberland.
The centre will include a six-lane swimming pool with spectator gallery, a learner pool, spa facilities, a four-court sports hall, a new 100 station fitness suite, a dedicated cycling studio, large fitness studios, a cafe area and soft play.
The plans also incorporate a new community services hub which will see the town’s library move back to its former home on Gas House Lane, a customer service centre and a new adult learning facility with classrooms for STEM learning and catering.
Morpeth Leisure Centre is a fantastic scheme to be part of, we are delighted to be part of the design team delivering this first-class leisure facility for our region.
Desco has extensive experience in the design of leisure, sport and pool facilities and we know the wider benefits a scheme like this will bring to the wider community; the centre will become a hub for the community and will promote health and wellbeing for Morpeth residents.
With the recent contractor appointment, we now look forward to the spade hitting the ground and the project coming to life.
