The Wave, Coventry Waterpark

Desco delivered the M&E design and pool water services on this ambitious, landmark city centre project for Coventry City Council.

The iconic, circular shaped building, which has been constructed adjacent to the historic Christ Church Tower and Spire, provides a destination leisure facility over three storeys.

It houses a 25m pool and main pool hall containing wave pool, lazy river and multiple leisure rides, a fitness suite, climbing wall, squash courts, dance studio and a day spa.

The Wave is part of the regeneration project for the Coventry City Centre area. The site buildings and surrounding areas needed modernisation, driven by Coventry City Council.

Delivered in two phases, the first phase of the development opened in July 2019 with the fitness and spa suites, and the second phase later opened in October 2019, allowing the leisure facility to be fully operational.

At the centre of the state-of-the-art waterpark are six high octane slides, each offering a combination of speed and thrills. From the Torrent – which drops riders 20 metres into the plunge pool – to roller coaster rides like the Cyclone, each slide is a unique experience complemented by light and sound features which ensure complete immersion for the rider.

The project was designed in-line with Sport England guidelines.
