Practical Completion on Culture House
Practical Completion has been achieved on the new modern learning and community building, Culture House, in Sunderland. The project was constructed as part of Sunderland City Council’s masterplan for Riverside Sunderland which aims to re-imagine the heart of the city.
Desco are proud to have provided the mechanical and electrical design services on the project.
Standing four storeys high, Culture House spans 7,300m² and includes performance spaces, exhibition and gallery spaces, libraries for children, young people and adults, a local studies and archives centre, creative labs, spaces for instructed learning & play, a café and a roof garden.
The modern hub overlooks Keel Square and was designed with a focus on sustainability which assists in meeting Sunderland City Council’s objective of being carbon neutral by 2030.
The building has now been handed over to the client and will undergo an AV fit out before officially opening later in the Spring.
