Royal Marsden Cancer Charity
In Autumn 2017, Desco were appointed to design the M&E services on behalf of Royal Marsden Cancer Charity for their new build clinical cancer care and research centre in Sutton, with an estimated construction value of £37m.
The Royal Marsden was the first hospital in the world to be dedicated to the treatment of cancer and is internationally recognized as being at the forefront of patient focused research and development for the treatment of cancer.
They are No.1 in Research Excellence Framework and No.3 globally. Their vision is to bring patient care to the heart of where the researchers work and as part of the long-term development plan.
The team were awarded the project following a rigorous selection process that confirmed their ability to help deliver a visionary and world class building.
Currently in the early stages of design, the scheme is being developed in BIM and includes some rationalization of an existing site to clear an area for the new building which will contain a number of facilities. This includes waiting areas, consulting rooms, phlebotomy, pharmacy, chemotherapy, haemato-oncology, MDT Suites, rapid diagnostic and assessment, endoscopy, research labs, café and break-out space.
