Recruiting for a Building Physics & Sustainability Engineer
Desco are expanding their Sustainable Engineering service and we are looking for a dynamic individual with a proven background in Sustainable Engineering to join our Building Physics department.

Job Description Overview
The role will involve working on varied and challenging projects, client communication, report writing, M&E technical support and concept design analysis.
The candidate will have a strong work ethic and the ability to work with and advise others within the team.
Main Tasks
- Lead and advise on sustainable engineering on projects throughout the UK
- Producing dynamic thermal models using IES VE software
- Understanding and producing Part L & EPC compliance for projects (Domestic & Non-Domestic)
- Undertake and produce energy operational energy modelling (TM54 / NABERS)
- Produce and advise on overheating risks in buildings (TM 52 / TM 59 / AD Part O)
- Daylight modelling
- Understand passive design and the ability to support the wider design team to develop low carbon design solutions
- London Plan Energy Strategy applications
- BREEAM Evidencing
- Develop and mentor junior staff
- Contributing towards raising the level of technical excellence within the business
Essential Experience
- High level understanding of thermal modelling in IES / Design Builder / SBEM / FSAP
- Knowledge and experience of Building Regulations Part L
- Proficient in Excel & Word
- Previous experience in building physics, architectural design or M&E building services design
Desirable Experience
- Degree Qualified – building physics, architectural design, M&E services
- Professional memberships – (CIBSE, IET, RIBA)
- Low Carbon Consultant / Low Carbon Energy Assessor
- Revit & Auto CAD
- BREEAM / NABERS assessor
- Circular Economy / Embedded Carbon assessor or experience
- Experience of presenting work to clients, design team members and internally within the business
