An appointment by Sir Robert McAlpine to design the M&E services associated with schemes one, two and three of this £150m regeneration project which will ultimately provide some 468,000 sq. ft. of new retail space.

The projects entail the regeneration of Old Eldon Square to provide new restaurant and retail units on the north and west sides. Double height restaurants at the entrance to a new scheme mall now overlook the square, and the façade of the existing centre has been remodelled to provide glazed elevations and terracing.

A new, secure and comfortable bus station, with a modern, glass-fronted waiting area, has been created at the north side of the scheme, providing direct access for buses, to the shopping centre.

The existing shopping centre between Clayton Street and Newgate Street is being rebuilt to provide a new department store and additional retail units along a wider mall.
